The Apartment

“Movie-wise, there has never been anything like it - laugh-wise, love-wise, or otherwise-wise!”

In 1960 New York, C.C. Baxter (Jack Lemmon) is a minor clerk at a vast insurance company, lending his apartment to executives who need somewhere to take their mistresses. He has his eye on Fran Kubelik (Shirley MacLaine), the elevator operator in his building, and no idea who she is seeing. Billy Wilder fits the whole thing into one cramped apartment and one enormous office floor, and he lets the laughs and the loneliness share a room.
