The Ape

“Jungle Beast or Man of Science?”

Dr. Bernard Adrian (Boris Karloff) is a country doctor the town has written off as a crank, and he spends his nights trying to cure Frances Clifford (Maris Wrixon), a young woman paralyzed by polio. The serum he's building needs human spinal fluid he can't get. Meanwhile, a circus ape has broken out of its cage and the locals are afraid to go out after dark. William Nigh keeps the film moving on small-town panic and a lab that never stops humming.
