The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again

(1979)Directed by Vincent McEveety88 min · GComedy, Family, Western
“As belles, they were ding-dongs... they enlisted, and were rotten to the corps... and when things got hotter... they went to the cooler... now, they're on the loose again!”

The Old West, a few years after the first film, finds Amos Tucker (Tim Conway) and Theodore (Don Knotts) still pretending to be outlaws and still bad at it. Their latest scheme drags them into the theft of army supplies, with Kenneth Mars as Woolly Bill Hitchcock and Tim Matheson as Jeff Reed in the mix. Vincent McEveety stages the chases and pratfalls as plain, broad slapstick for Conway and Knotts to play off each other.
