The Assailant

Nobody can say what happened to Besouro Mangangá, the capoeira fighter of 1920s Bahia whose name collected legends the way a river collects silt. Director João Daniel Tikhomiroff follows him as Besouro (Aílton Carmo), a young Black man of African descent who goes looking for his mission, with Dinorá (Jéssica Barbosa) and Coronel Venâncio (Flávio Rocha) among those he meets. Whatever Besouro finds, he will have to answer it with his own body.
