The Assassination of Trotsky
“For one moment, they hold history in their hands. With one terrible blow, they make it.”
In 1940, Frank Jackson (Alain Delon) follows the exiled revolutionary Leon Trotsky (Richard Burton) to Mexico, sent by Stalin's agents to get close enough to kill him. Joseph Losey stays near the gunman, who works his way toward the household one friendly introduction at a time, the household led by Trotsky and his wife Natalia (Valentina Cortese). The film is about how Stalin's long reach turned one man's exile into a hunt.
