The Asthenic Syndrome

Nikolai (Sergei Popov) teaches a class of pupils who show no interest in anything he says, and he carries a heaviness the film places under an old name, hypochondria, or black melancholia. Kira Muratova sets his low, weary days beside the people he meets, among them Natasha (Olga Antonova). Nikolai moves through each hour worn out, and he keeps showing up anyway.
