Commander Richard "Reef" Holloway (Arthur Franz) wants to know why ships keep vanishing on the route across the Arctic Sea. He takes a submarine out to find the answer, with Dan Wendover (Dick Foran) and young Carl Neilson Jr. (Brett Halsey) aboard. Spencer Gordon Bennet fills the hull with crew who share one cramped space and one mission, and the film keeps the men's trust in each other at its center.
