The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman

(1974)Directed by John Korty112 minDrama, TV Movie

In February 1962, a New York journalist arrives in Bayonne, Louisiana, to interview Jane Pittman (Cicely Tyson), who has just turned 110. She tells him her life from her earliest memories, before slavery ended, while the civil rights struggle presses on the town outside, urged on by young Jimmy (Eric Brown). John Korty cuts between her chapters and the present, and Tyson sits at the center of it all, a very old woman in Bayonne, remembering.
