The Bacchus Lady

(2016)Directed by E J-yong110 min · NC-17Drama
“For the old men wandering in a park of Seoul, the Bacchus lady is a comfort and the only lasting friend.”

So-young (Youn Yuh-jung), an elderly woman who sells sex to old men in Seoul, needs enough money to get by and, after meeting a young Korean-Filipino boy in a hospital, enough to look after him too. Her old clients start finding their way back to her, among them Jae-woo (Jeon Moo-song), and her days grow harder to manage. E J-yong writes the film as a plain account of how a society treats the old and poor, and who it leaves to care for the next child.
