“Sometimes you get too close”

Political violence is killing people in the townships of South Africa in the early 1990s, and nobody can say who is behind it or when it will stop. Four young photographers, among them Greg Marinovich (Ryan Phillippe) and Kevin Carter (Taylor Kitsch), drive into the worst of it to get the pictures before the 1994 election. Steven Silver follows what happens to men whose proof of the violence is the thing they must carry home.
