The Banishment

“If you want to kill, kill. If you want to forgive, forgive.”

Alex (Konstantin Lavronenko) takes his wife Vera (Maria Bonnevie) and their two children to his brother Mark's childhood home in the countryside for a holiday. One day Vera tells him she is pregnant, and the child is not his. Andrey Zvyagintsev films the whole stay at a slow, deliberate pace, so the news sits in every room long after she has said it.
