“Don't pay the man. Be the man.”

Why would two Black men in 1960s America go to a white-run banking world and stake everything on a plan to change who gets to own a home? Bernard Garrett (Anthony Mackie) and Joe Morris (Samuel L. Jackson) bring in Matt Steiner (Nicholas Hoult) to front for them, and George Nolfi follows the three as the scheme gets underway. Bernard has a wife, Eunice (Nia Long), a young family, and a lot to lose.
