The Barbarian Invasions

(2003)Directed by Denys Arcand99 minComedy, Drama
“A comedy about sex, friendship, and all other things that invade our lives.”

Rémy (Rémy Girard), a Montreal history professor, lies in a crowded hospital hallway with liver cancer, and his ex-wife Louise (Dorothée Berryman) calls their estranged son home from London. Sébastien (Stéphane Rousseau) arrives and starts leaning on his contacts to get his father a better room. Denys Arcand follows the two men as they sit in the same room, a father who never understood his son's work and a son who barely knows him.
