“When it flies... someone dies!”

A country house called "The Oaks" has already seen murder, committed not long ago by a violent criminal known as "The Bat". Mystery writer Cornelia Van Gorder (Agnes Moorehead) rents it anyway, and Dr. Malcolm Wells (Vincent Price) soon turns up among the people who come through its doors. Crane Wilbur sets the writer and the doctor against each other, each sizing the other up across a house that hides a fortune.
