The Battle of Neretva

In January 1943, German forces under General Lohring (Curd Jürgens) push a great offensive into Western Bosnia, and the Partisans fall back toward the one bridge over the Neretva. Vlado (Yul Brynner) is among those trying to get thousands of refugees and wounded across it before the army closes in. Veljko Bulajić stages the fighting on a huge scale, with a large international cast moving through it.
