The Battleship Island
“1945 Hashima. We called it hell on earth.”
Roughly 400 Koreans are shipped to Hashima Island during the Japanese occupation and put to work digging coal. Lee Kang-ok (Hwang Jung-min), Choi Chil-sung (So Ji-sub) and Park Moo-young (Song Joong-ki) each arrive with different reasons for being there and different ideas about how to get off it. Ryoo Seung-wan sets the workers against the camp's guards and its mines, and what he keeps in view is that forced labor takes a person's body and their name together.
