The Beach

“Somewhere on this planet it must exist.”

Richard (Leonardo DiCaprio), a young backpacker in Thailand, ends up with a hand-drawn map that points to a hidden beach, and he sets out for it with Françoise (Virginie Ledoyen) and Étienne (Guillaume Canet). Danny Boyle sends them across the water to an uninhabited island, where a colony of travelers has made its own life. Richard wanted somewhere nobody else had been, and he is about to find out what staying there asks of him.
