Murder has come to the estate of a dead pianist in an Italian village, and the locals say the killer is his severed hand. Police Commissario Ovidio Castanio (J. Carrol Naish) wants a human culprit, while Hilary Cummins (Peter Lorre) hears the dead man's piano in the house, and Robert Florey keeps the family circling that room. Julie Holden (Andrea King) and Bruce Conrad (Robert Alda) are drawn together by the fear, each unsure how far to trust the other.
