The Bed Sitting Room

(1969)Directed by Richard Lester91 min · RComedy, Science Fiction
“The great nuclear misunderstanding lasted 2 minutes and 28 seconds (including the peace treaty)”

Three years after a nuclear misunderstanding, the survivors of Britain are turning into things. Richard Lester follows a small group across the wreckage, among them Penelope (Rita Tushingham), Father (Arthur Lowe) and Mother (Mona Washbourne), who go on with their manners as if nothing has changed. Lord Fortnum of Alamein (Ralph Richardson) feels himself becoming a bed sitting room, and he meets it with weary courtesy.
