Pasha Stroganova (Inna Churikova) works in a factory in a provincial Russian town and acts in the amateur theatre, where she plays Baba Yaga so convincingly that a visiting filmmaker takes notice. He offers her the lead in a historical drama about Joan of Arc, the hardest part she could be handed. Gleb Panfilov follows her as she leaves everything familiar behind, with her love for Arkadiy (Leonid Kuravlyov) and the chance she has dreamed of both now at stake.
