The Bells of St. Mary's

(1945)Directed by Leo McCarey126 minDrama, Comedy
“The Whole World's in Tune... with Bing and Bergman together at their most brilliant best!”

Sister Mary Benedict (Ingrid Bergman) wants to save St. Mary's, a run-down parochial school that is close to being condemned. The new priest, Father O'Malley (Bing Crosby), is sent to help, and the two go about it in very different ways, which leads to a lot of good-natured arguing. Leo McCarey lets the film settle into their rivalry and keeps the mood easy, a story told as comfortably as a Sunday visit.
