The Bench

“He has a life, he isn't proud of, and a past that he doesn't want to remember.”

Nineteen years of silence ends when a woman fleeing her violent husband moves into the same council estate as Kaj (Jesper Christensen), the father she has not spoken to since she was a girl. He is a former chef with a lot of pride and not much else, doing a job-training scheme for the long-term unemployed. Per Fly follows Kaj as he ends up minding her six-year-old son Jonas, and the film shows how hard it is to be needed by people after years of needing no one.
