Vadik Volnov (Garik Kharlamov) dies at his own wedding from a cannabis overdose and is sent to argue his case before God (Armen Dzhigarkhanyan). Kirill Kuzin fills the wait with Vadik's memories: cognac on his eighth birthday, the Soviet Army in Afghanistan, bandit standoffs in the 1990s. Running through all of it is Nastya (Elena Velikanova), the woman Vadik meets and then spends a lifetime trying to deserve.
