The Best of Enemies
“Change is worth fighting for”
In the summer of 1971, Durham, North Carolina is split over whether its schools will desegregate. A court-ordered community summit puts two people in charge of it: Ann Atwater (Taraji P. Henson), an outspoken civil rights activist, and Claiborne Paul Ellis (Sam Rockwell), a local Ku Klux Klan leader who agrees to co-chair only reluctantly. Robin Bissell directs, and the schools, along with the lives of both people, hang on whether they can sit in the same room.
