The Big Country

In the Old West, a retired sea captain named James McKay (Gregory Peck) arrives to marry into the family of Major Terrill, a rancher locked in a bitter feud with the rough Hannasseys over a valuable patch of land. William Wyler shot it in Technicolor and Technirama, and Rufus Hannassey (Burl Ives) holds his ground against the Major. McKay stands among them in his city clothes, a stranger in a country built for fighting.
