A local mobster turns up murdered in New Orleans, and the lieutenant handed the case, Remy McSwain (Dennis Quaid), starts to suspect the killing may trace back to people wearing the same badge he does. Anne Osborne (Ellen Barkin) is the assistant district attorney who comes to look into it. Jim McBride shot the whole film on location in New Orleans and sets the investigation among the city's nightlife.
