“The Untold Story of Nat Turner”

Nat Turner (Nate Parker) is an enslaved man in Southampton County, Virginia, who learns to read and is made a preacher, hired out by his owner Samuel Turner (Armie Hammer) to quiet other enslaved people on nearby farms. What he sees on those farms in 1831 is what pushes him toward leading a rebellion. Nate Parker wrote, directed and starred, and borrowed his title from D. W. Griffith's 1915 film.
