A Hollywood actor was murdered three years ago, and the case in Honolulu has never been solved. Inspector Charlie Chan (Warner Oland) is still on it when film star Shelah Fane (Dorothy Revier) arrives to shoot a picture, holding off a marriage until the psychic Tarneverro (Bela Lugosi) has read her future. Hamilton MacFadden sets Chan and Julie O'Neil (Sally Eilers) side by side in the search, and the two of them keep trading what they learn.
