The Black Cauldron

(1985)Directed by Ted Berman, Richard Rich80 min · PGAnimation, Adventure, Family, Fantasy
“Hidden by darkness. Guarded by witches. Discovered by a boy. Stolen by a king. Whoever owns it will rule the world. Or destroy it.”

Taran (Grant Bardsley) is an assistant pigkeeper who spends his days dreaming of becoming a great warrior. His chance to prove himself comes when the Horned King (John Hurt) kidnaps Hen Wen, the oracular pig in his care, hoping she will lead him to the Black Cauldron and its army of unstoppable soldiers. Ted Berman and Richard Rich send a boy into a war he is not ready for, and the dream of glory looks different once the danger is real.
