The Black Room

(1935)Directed by Roy William Neill70 minHorror, Crime
“Dead or Alive... He could kill!”

In a 16th-century European town, a prophecy hangs over the ruling family: if twin boys are ever born, the younger will murder the older. Twins arrive, and the elder grows into Baron Gregor de Berghman (Boris Karloff), a slovenly tyrant who rules the villagers from the castle. Roy William Neill puts him opposite his brother Anton, whom he fears, and opposite Thea Hassel (Marian Marsh), the noblewoman he means to marry.
