The Boat That Rocked
“On air. Off shore. Out of control.”
Carl (Tom Sturridge) is a teenager sent to join his godfather Quentin (Bill Nighy) aboard Radio Rock, a pirate station anchored in the North Sea in 1966. His new home holds The Count (Philip Seymour Hoffman), Gavin (Rhys Ifans) and a crew of deejays who play the rock and pop the government has banned. Richard Curtis sets them against a minister set on shutting the station down, and the broadcasts, and the boat, are what is at risk.
