The Bookshop

(2017)Directed by Isabel Coixet110 minDrama
“A town without a bookshop is no town at all.”

Florence Green (Emily Mortimer) wants to open a bookshop in Hardborough, a small coastal town in Suffolk in 1959. The opposition is polite and unrelenting, led by Violet Gamart (Patricia Clarkson), and it turns a simple shop into a local fight. Isabel Coixet follows Florence as she keeps the doors open, with her savings, her livelihood and her place in the town all riding on it.
