The Breadwinner

Parvana (Saara Chaudry) cuts her hair and puts on boy's clothes in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan, because her family cannot eat if no one in it is allowed outside. Nora Twomey follows her through the market, where she works as a boy named Sulayman and takes whatever jobs come. Her friend Shauzia (Soma Bhatia) is out there too, and the two of them hold onto each other.
