The Bride Wore Red

(1937)Directed by Dorothy Arzner103 minRomance, Comedy, Drama
“2 weeks to be a lady! 2 weeks to feather her nest! 2 weeks to make one man say "I do!"”

Anni Pavlovitch (Joan Crawford) sings in a cabaret, a poor woman with no money and no connections. A rich benefactor changes that, sending her into high society disguised as an aristocrat. Dorothy Arzner places Anni among the rich, with Rudolph Pal (Robert Young) and Giulio (Franchot Tone) nearby, and the evening still has the red of the bride's dress.
