The Bridges of Madison County

“A love like this happens to some of us sooner or later. For Robert and Francesca, it was later.”

Francesca Johnson (Meryl Streep) is an Iowa farm wife in the 1960s, left alone for a few days when her husband and children travel to a state fair. A stranger pulls into her drive, the photographer Robert Kincaid (Clint Eastwood), asking the way to the covered bridges he has come to shoot. Clint Eastwood directs the four days that follow, with a whole marriage and a family's good opinion of her sitting on the other side of them.
