The Brothers Karamazov

“Three brothers, one spiritual and living at a monastery, the other - a gambler, and the third - an intellectual, work out their problems in 19th century Russia”

Dmitri Karamazov (Mikhail Ulyanov) is a reckless man in a Russian province in the late 19th century, and he wants Grushenka (Lionella Pyryeva) and the money he believes his father owes him. His father Fyodor Pavlovich (Mark Prudkin) stands in the way, while his brothers Ivan (Kirill Lavrov) and Alyosha (Andrey Myagkov) watch the quarrel sharpen. Ivan Pyryev, adapting Dostoevsky's 1880 novel, ends on the girl who follows Dmitri toward hard labour.
