The Buccaneer
“Piercing Drama of La Fitte - Man or Devil ?”
It is 1814, the War of 1812 is going badly, and General Andrew Jackson (Charlton Heston) has 1,200 men left to hold New Orleans against 60 British ships and 16,000 soldiers. Anthony Quinn directs Yul Brynner as Jean Lafitte, the last great buccaneer, whose island near the city matters to both sides. The city loves him for selling untaxed goods, his crew wants him on the winning side, and his heart belongs to America.
