The Burning Plain

“Their passion has marked them for life.”

Sylvia (Charlize Theron) manages a restaurant and keeps her life arranged so that nobody gets close enough to ask her questions. A trailer burns in the middle of a plain, and two lovers are found dead inside it, while other scenes show two families in the years before and after. Guillermo Arriaga, in his directing debut, weaves these threads together, and the film shows how a secret between parents can stay in a daughter's body long after the fire.
