The Butcher Boy

“This little piggy laughed all the way home!”

Francie Brady (Eamonn Owens) and his best friend Joe (Alan Boyle) spend their days in a small Irish town playing at comic-book wars, until Francie's home pulls him out of the game. His father (Stephen Rea) drinks and swings his fists, his mother is sinking, and Mrs. Nugent (Fiona Shaw) next door has her eye on him. Neil Jordan lets the boy narrate his own slide, and every new humiliation puts the friendship with Joe at risk.
