“One quiet voice can ignite a revolution.”

How does a sharecropper's son who grew up serving the white family that wrecked his own end up working inside the White House? Cecil Gaines (Forest Whitaker) gets there through years as a hotel valet so quiet and exact that the people he serves stop seeing him, and over the decades he waits on one president after another. At home, his wife Gloria (Oprah Winfrey) drinks and his son Louis (David Oyelowo) joins the movement. Lee Daniels keeps the camera on the family.
