The Butterfly Effect

“Change one thing. Change everything.”

Evan Treborn (Ashton Kutcher) grows up in a town where whole stretches of his childhood have gone blank, and the journals he kept are the only record left. As an adult he finds that reading them lets him step back into his younger body and change what happened to Kayleigh Miller (Amy Smart) and their friends. Eric Bress and J. Mackye Gruber build the film as a puzzle in which each rewrite arrives with a cost.
