The Cabin in the Cotton

“They said this book was "throbbing, vital, absorbing." (N.Y. American) You'll say the same thing about the picture!”

Marvin Blake (Richard Barthelmess) is a sharecropper's son who wants to see the people around him get out from under poverty and ignorance. Michael Curtiz sets the story in a cotton-growing community where the Blakes work land they do not own, and where Madge Norwood (Bette Davis) and Betty Wright (Dorothy Jordan) both come into his life. Marvin has to decide how far he will go for the neighbors who need him, and what that will cost him.
