The Caine Mutiny

(1954)Directed by Edward Dmytryk124 minDrama, War
“As big as the ocean!”

The USS Caine is a worn-out destroyer-minesweeper in the Pacific during World War II, and Ensign Willie Keith (Robert Francis) reports aboard to find its old captain gone. His replacement, Lt. Cmdr. Philip Queeg (Humphrey Bogart), runs the ship by the book, and executive officer Stephen Maryk (Van Johnson) begins to doubt his judgment. Edward Dmytryk puts Queeg alone at the court-martial, two steel balls turning in his palm.
