The Canary Murder Case

(1929)Directed by Malcolm St. Clair, Frank Tuttle82 minCrime, Mystery
“Who killed the most beautiful woman on Broadway?”

A nightclub singer known as the Canary is found dead, and the only witness to her killing has been silenced too. Everyone in her circle had been used by her, and each had a reason to want her gone, from Jimmie Spottswoode (James Hall) to the rest of her suspects. Malcolm St. Clair and Frank Tuttle send in the detective Philo Vance (William Powell), who has to name the killer before another name gets crossed off.
