The Canterbury Tales

(1972)Directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini111 min · NC-17Comedy, History, Drama
“From the team that gave you "Decameron", Geoffrey Chaucer's Lustiest Tales of Merrie Olde England!”

A pilgrimage to Canterbury becomes a string of bawdy tales told along the road, with Chaucer himself glimpsed at his desk writing them down. Pasolini fills them with old husbands like Sir January (Hugh Griffith), the Wife from Bath (Laura Betti) and a young trickster, Perkin (Ninetto Davoli), who drifts from one scrape to the next. Each of them wants a body, a bit of money or a little pleasure, and the film gives them room to go after it.
