The Carabineers

Ulysses (Marino Masé) is a poor farmer who takes the king's soldiers at their word when they promise an easy, happy life in exchange for fighting. He and his brother Michel-Ange (Patrice Moullet) march off to a war in an imaginary country, and Jean-Luc Godard keeps the tone flat and the fighting oddly casual. Back home, Venus (Geneviève Galéa) and Cleopatre (Catherine Ribeiro) wait for the letters their husbands send.
