The Carpetbaggers

(1964)Directed by Edward Dmytryk150 minDrama
“It is unlikely that you will experience in a lifetime all that you will see in... THE CARPETBAGGERS.”

Jonas Cord Junior (George Peppard) is a disagreeable young tycoon in 1930s Hollywood, building planes, directing films and chasing women with the same appetite for the deal. Edward Dmytryk surrounds him with a former Western gunslinger turned actor, Nevada Smith (Alan Ladd), and Rina Marlowe Cord (Carroll Baker), a screen star loosely drawn from Jean Harlow. Jonas collects companies, studios and people, and nobody around him is sure he's kept hold of any of them.
