The Castle

A village sits below a castle in a snowbound landscape, dressed and lit like a Bruegel painting. A Land Surveyor (Nikolay Stotskiy) arrives to take up a job that nobody in the place seems to have ordered. Aleksei Balabanov follows his campaign to make the castle's officials admit he exists, a plain, stubborn struggle to keep hold of who he is.
