“Believe in the Thief.”

Lupin III (Yasuo Yamada) and his partner Jigen (Kiyoshi Kobayashi) walk away from a casino heist with a bag of flawless counterfeit bills. The trail leads to the Castle of Cagliostro, where a young woman is kept prisoner and the forgers work. Hayao Miyazaki sets Lupin's easy, grinning nerve against the quiet fear of the girl in the tower, and the film is mostly about two people who barely know each other deciding to look out for one another.
