The Catered Affair

(1956)Directed by Richard Brooks94 minDrama
“When you're in love, nothing else matters”

Agnes Hurley (Bette Davis) wants her daughter's wedding to be the one the whole Bronx block will talk about, with a hall, a caterer, and a guest list that keeps growing. Her husband Tom (Ernest Borgnine) drives a cab and counts every dollar, and Jane (Debbie Reynolds) just wants to marry Ralph (Rod Taylor) quietly. Richard Brooks sets the fight in a cramped apartment, where Agnes and Tom talk past each other, two people who have lost the way back to one another.
